Jeff Koons’ sculptures sell for millions of dollars. In November 2013, Balloon Dog (Orange) was auctioned off at Christie’s in New York for US$58.4 million, the highest price ever paid for an artwork by a living artist. In addition to having had many solo exhibitions worldwide, Koons’ first retrospective was held at the Whitney in 2014. Based on this, you’d think that Koons is pretty high up there in the food chain.
